Channeling both the Diva and Designer

This blog post is special for me as I have been contemplating to start designing full time for ages now and I think finally I have decided to take the plunge. As much as shopping off the rack is easier, cheaper and any day more convenient, there is an undeniable thrill in creating your own outfit. Almost like making a baby, well that is a hell lot more painful. lollzz.

So coming back to channeling my inner designer, I knew I had to start sometime as most of the time I am giving ideas not just for my outfits, but to all my friends too. It just would come naturally to me. Well, not so naturally. I did study Fashion from NIFD Delhi, right after college and though it was a very basic course, yet it cleared a lot of my concepts and I knew I would love to dabble in fashion designing. Of course, the scenario has changed drastically now.  Designing is no longer a niche skill and designs per say has evolved so much that I personally feel aesthetics have taken a back seat.  That said, Fashion is extremely personal and what works for one might not for another. So, keeping this mantra in mind, I started working on a few designs with some fabric pieces that were lying with me for years now, and I was thrilled with the results. Not  only did I have some awesome custom outfits, but I also got to use my grey cells and my work was appreciated.

I loved the idea of experimenting with different fabrics and designs, recycling old stuff and each time loving the results. So this time I had a saree with me which I had styled earlier, but I was bored of it. So the idea to create a dress popped up and I turned it into a one side off shoulder dress with a high slit. It is an indian print so wasn’t sure of the ultra modern design, but I liked the result. So do tell me your feedback and come to me if you want your outfits designed. 😉

I accessorised with a statement neck piece, shocking pink feather earrings. I had this bright pink clutch lying with me and it matched so well with the outfit. Gold peep toes, well because standing tall is always a good idea.

Sharing some pics with you guys. Hope you like them.
